Although plantain is classified as a fruit, in many Caribbean countries, it is used more like a vegetable than a fruit. They can be boiled, baked or fried, much like potatoes and are really tasty.
They are very similar to a banana, and some people actually call them ‘cooking bananas’ which we think sums them up quite nicely.
They are delicious to enjoy as a snack or as part of your main meal, eaten in a similar fashion to potatoes.
The plantain we serve up here at Reece’s Caribbean Restaurant in Gloucester Docks is really tasty and is available as a side so you can eat it with whatever you choose!
If you’re looking to try plantain ‘the Caribbean way’ come down to Reece’s in Gloucester Docks and enjoy the ‘plantain experience’
